Hello

I am a Singing and Piano Teacher.

My Story

As a Singer, Pianist, Music Therapist and Music Practitioner, I am passionate about making music accessible to everyone regardless of age, background or experience. I work in a student-centred way, focusing on their particular interests, learning styles, individual needs and goals. I aim to make learning a stimulating and rewarding experience in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Music is a vital outlet for me and has been a massive part of my life from an early age. It afforded me many wonderful opportunities I wouldn't otherwise have had, such as: recording 3 studio albums, going on 4 European tours and performing at the closing night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall with the Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra whilst still at school. I spent four years in Australia as the director of Gunnedah conservatoire of music, alongside gaining a BA in Psychology and Sociology. My love of outreach work grew after establishing a music programme with local indigenous communities.

When I returned to the UK, I got an MSc in Music Therapy at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. I spent 11 years teaching in a wide variety of settings. I guided instrumental pupils through ABRSM, Trinity and London College of Music exams for students interested in gaining graded exams. In addition to that, my work ranged from leading vocal workshops in the School of Rock projects to small group work for children with additional support needs. I facilitated lyric writing sessions with young offenders and taught group keyboard lessons in after school music clubs. I also conducted a dementia choir and carried out reminiscent work in the Royal Edinburgh hospital to care for the elderly wards.

I am enthusiastic about learning and am always striving to be the best teacher and musician I can be. I've recently completed a licentiate diploma in singing performance and singing teaching (LRSL) as part of my ongoing professional development, and I am currently enrolled in the level 4 Certificate for Music Educators course (ABRSM) with ENACT Music. I am also a part-time student at Queen's University going into my 2nd year of an MRes in social science research.
