Hello

I am a Singing, Piano, Composition and Music Theory Teacher.

My Story

I am a composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and sound designer with a 1st Class Honours Bachelor of Music Degree from Ulster University and a Diploma in Music Performance from London College of Music.

As a soprano, I have been singing classical, jazz, blues, folk and musical theatre from the age of 11. I have performed in numerous choral and solo concerts throughout my education. These concerts have taken me across Northern Ireland, with notable highlights being performing at Ulster University seasonal concerts, the Flax-Trust-Inter-Community School's Award, Ballymena Festival, Northern Ireland Hospice Services and with Barry Douglas and Camerata Ireland.

In my teens, I started learning piano. This massively improved my understanding of music theory and allowed me to better practice singing. It also allowed me to begin writing my own melodies, creating a love of composition.

Outside of teaching, I work as a composer. Currently I am Ulster Touring Opera's first Composer in Residence. My latest work, ‘Lady Windermere’s Fan’, is supported by The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and The National Lottery.

I am dedicated to continuous learning, I always try to learn new music, instruments and techniques. I have worked with and received mentoring from numerous renowned artists in the fields of composition, opera singing, directing and producing and received specialised tutoring at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

My teaching philosophy is to focus on creativity, personal expression through music and to create an enjoyable experience that will become a comfort throughout a student’s life. With the voice as my primary instrument and playing multiple secondary instruments, I can offer students a teaching method that provides a thorough understanding of melody, harmony, theory and musical history with a collaborative, student-led approach.
