My Story
I am an internationally-recognised music education expert with over two decades' experience in piano and instrumental music teaching, regularly in demand as an invited speaker at universities and conferences across the UK and internationally.
I have held teaching and mentoring roles at Queen's University Belfast. Currently, I am a Lecturer and Staff Tutor in Music at the Open University and the founder and director of Enact Music. Enact Music is a global music education company that supports music teachers worldwide to improve their music teaching and obtain music teaching qualifications. It has also supported thousands of music learners to receive recognition for their music learning by working with all UK based major music examination boards (e.g. ABRSM, TCL, LCM, Rock School, MTB).
I regularly publish articles in renowned academic music education journals and am a reviewer for various music psychology and music education academic journals. As Director for the Certificate for Music Educators, Level 4 course, Accredited by ABRSM and Trinity College London, at Enact Music, my book Certificate for Music Educators: Teaching Children and Young People (2021), published by Routledge, is the first and so far only book written to support learners in this course.
"[This book] offers a compendium on the practicalities of teaching in contemporary diverse settings including studio, school and community, all in a single volume. This is a strong book with little competition that fills a gap in the market." Professor Oscar Odena, School of Education, University of Glasgow, UK
