Hello
I am a Drums Teacher
My Story
I have been playing drums for over 30 years and working as a full-time professional musician since 2010. Largely self-taught in my early years, I returned to formal study in 2015 at BIMM Dublin, completing a Diploma in Professional Commercial Modern Musicianship. This broadened not only my practical skills but also gave me a strong grounding in music theory and pedagogy.

My career spans a wide range of musical experiences, including:
-
Live performance
-
Studio recording
-
TV and film performance
-
Live radio sessions and airplay
-
Touring
-
Music education
-
Music production
-
Band management and musical direction, including work with a house band in Spain

I continue to perform regularly across the Northern Ireland music scene as a session drummer, appearing with a variety of acts at pubs, festivals, weddings, and private events.

I’ve had the privilege of studying with some of the world’s leading drummers, including:
-
Keith Carlock (Steely Dan, Sting, John Mayer)
-
Benny Greb (international performer & educator)
-
Jojo Mayer (Nerve)
-
Ash Soan (Snow Patrol, Adele, Cher)
-
Mark Guiliana (David Bowie)
-
Steve White (Paul Weller, The Style Council)
-
Mike Johnston (international educator, mikeslessons.com)

My teaching philosophy is simple: you’re never too young or too old to learn. No matter your skill level, there is always room to grow. I take a relaxed and informal approach in lessons, focusing on enjoyment, creativity, and the joy of playing—because that’s why most people pick up an instrument in the first place. This then can build into exam preparation, depending on learner's development goals. As consistency is very important in the learning process, I help students build short, regular, and effective practice habits that support steady progress while keeping the experience fun and rewarding.
