With over twenty years of experience as a violinist, I began my musical journey at the age of seven and trained formally, achieving advanced ABRSM grades. From the age of nine to seventeen, I performed extensively in ensemble settings as a member of the City of Belfast School of Music orchestras, appearing many times on the Ulster Hall stage. This experience has given me a strong foundation in musicianship, listening skills, teamwork, and performance confidence—skills I actively nurture in my students.

 

My core aim as a teacher is to help each student develop a genuine love for the violin. I firmly believe that learners make the best progress when they enjoy learning, feel supported, and understand why they are practising. Lessons are relaxed, structured, and student-centred. We work on music that motivates learning, while carefully building essential fundamentals such as posture, tone, scales, rhythm, and music theory—ensuring strong technique, confidence, and steady progress over time.

 

I strive to create a calm, patient, and encouraging learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow at their own pace. Learners can expect clear communication, thoughtful guidance, and lessons that balance creativity with discipline.

 

Alongside my musical career, I hold an LLB in Law with Criminology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Studies (Bar). This academic background has strengthened my organisational, analytical, and mentoring skills. I am also a practising artist and facilitator of creative workshops, which allows me to bring imagination, adaptability, and a deep understanding of different learning styles into my teaching.
